Students attempt visual convergence and formal cohesion between two seemingly unrelated graphical languages. They must reconcile the taut construction and monotonal value of typography with the inherent irregularities, imperfections and graduated tonality of photography.
A composition comprises eight pages of linear arrangement, with alternating letter/image motifs consigned to their designated page area. Successful integration of these elements is largely dependent on a student’s deep understanding of two-dimensional structure and form/counter form interrelationships.
